Tim Shinbara is Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for AMT – The Association For Manufacturing Technology. He is responsible for strategic planning, activities related to research and development, standards, and international collaboration regarding manufacturing technology trends and needs. Mr. Shinbara is a Board Officer of the MTConnect Institute which develops the MTConnect Standard supporting data interoperability and standards harmonization for discrete manufacturing technologies. Tim is also Chair of ASTM F42.05 (Materials and Processes) developing standards for additive manufacturing technologies. AMT is a founding member of America Makes (Manufacturing USA Institute for additive manufacturing) and he served multiple terms on their Executive Committee; including supporting the development of their initial technical roadmap. Tim began his AM career at Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems with Direct Part Manufacturing (DPM) being a major focus within his manufacturing technology development portfolio for aerospace and space applications.
